The Egg-Shaped Ball

The Egg Shaped Ball is a show about the sport of rugby, the predecessor of American football. Now, they do share a few similarities like running, kicking and tackling but there are a few BIG differences such as passes can only go backward or sideways, no blocking, and pads are not allowed. Although a ‘touchdown’ in rugby is called a ‘try’, it actually counts a touch down. You can’t just cross the goal line or try line…you must touch the ball down!

The twist in our show is our presenters - Mad Matty Moose and Pontydragon, otherwise known as the Bearded Bar Steward, Bert. They are two Yanks who really don’t know a lot about rugby. However, they love the game, as well as the folks who play and support it.

The Egg Shaped Ball primarily concentrates on Pontypridd Rugby Football Club, Pontypridd, Rhondda-Cynon-Taff, Wales, UK., and the Wales National Team. There are also other significant events covered like the Six Nations, USA Collegiate 7’s, the Rugby World Cup, and the IRB 7’s.

Not only does the show provide the latest news and happenings in the game of rugby but the presenters also try to teach some of the fundamentals as a way to help you not only understand what’s going on a little bit more but more importantly, enjoy the game.
